Spring?

Spring has been really slow to come to New England this year.  I live in a bit of a snow belt and the snow finally disappeared 2 weeks ago, but it’s not really warmed up very much.  But I’ve been walking on the bikepath 4 or 5 days a week with the dog, so I’m hitting my 10,000 steps more frequently than I was over the winter.

I also started back with my personal trainer Nazi mid March and that’s been a great move for me.  I do feel so much better overall when I invest one hour per week with her.  I have always known that movement is the best healer for my RA, but sometimes I don’t listen to my own advise – particularly during this long winter.  I did a lot of hunkering down in front of the TV binging on Netflix when I should have been moving.

The RA is still there in the background, but it is not in command of my life right now.  I’m in command, spring is here and I’m looking forward to a good summer.

  1. That’s great that you’re back to training. Love the pic! Movement is your friend and keeps the monster away. I wish I lived where there were actual seasons. Well, sometimes I do. 🙂

    • Yes. It would be hard to imagine life without the changing seasons. I like things changed up regularly, including the weather. There’s a piece of each of the seasons that I really enjoy and appreciate. Interestingly enough, the change of seasons can have a drastic affect on the RA. As the allergens come out with spring and fall, my body fights too many battles and usually my joints lose!!!

  2. I am so happy our weather is FINALLY warming up. It’s been such a long, cold, somewhat miserable winter. I love the changing of the seasons, and I could not imagine living where there weren’t changes, but I’m always ready to move onto the next season at least a month before the actual change:) Like you, now that it’s warming up, I’m able to get outside more.

I know a few other women taking boxing lesson, they love it.

    Enjoy the warmth!

  3. You go, girl! I love your spirit, Leigh. Wish I was more like you. I can be sometimes but I am not there right now. The whole winter thing bummed me out & I wasn’t feeling great either. Plus my little dog was going through some very scary health issues & I think it just all get to me. I usually handle things a little better but for some reason didn’t do too well this time. But anyway…….gonna snap out of it, get my ass in gear and move forward! Tomorrow is another day!!!!
